The Truth Behind Window Cleaning Myths

As much as you’d want to think that the old tips and tricks are pure myths, there’s a grain of truth in them. You may or may not find a scientific truth supporting them, but they work just as well and that’s all that matters!

As a professional cleaning company, it’s our job to know what gives the best results. We want to offer maximum value for what the client is paying us and that includes knowing all the hacks that help us create spectacular results. Here are common myths that did (or didn’t) have some truth to them.

Use a newspaper to wipe glass

It’s a common hack to use old newspaper to wipe off moisture from window glass. While it might sound weird, it actually worked well for ages. This is because the paper used for newspapers ages ago was of better quality than the one used now. Since it was thicker, it could absorb more moisture and wouldn’t tear easily.

In contrast, the newspapers now are made of finer quality paper that tears easily and discolors the window trim. Modern cleaning companies have switched to microfiber towels for drying but the use of newspapers was valid too.

Spot Cleaning as a Quick Fix

One way that we’ve benefited from the progression of time and technology is that services have become more attuned to details. This is why we don’t cut corners by only spot cleaning windows for a renewed look. But back in the day, it was common for homeowners to simply clean bird droppings or grime stains when there wasn’t enough time. But it doesn’t work because sooner or later you’ll have to call in professionals when the gunk becomes too obvious an eyesore to miss!

Window Cleaners Are Not Eco-Friendly

This was a common perception that window cleaning solutions release toxic contaminants that pollute the air and hence are bad for the environment. While it’s a valid concern, it’d be unfair to assume that the industry lacks any safe cleaners. In fact, environment friendliness has overtaken commercial businesses and forced them to resort to eco-friendly ways of doing the same job. We follow safe methods for cleaning windows and market our services as such.

We specialize in window cleaning services in Glenwood Springs and would love to give your windows a thorough cleaning. Call us right away if you need more details or to book a service.
